From:
Mian Taimoor Ali Babar
Subject:
M.O.U with CSUEB about Ted Talks
BACKGROUND:
In collaboration with CSUEB, the SSCC seeks to form a series of TED Talk events on Chabot
College’s campus. In order to do this, we must formulate an M.O.U with CSUEB’s student
government. This M.O.U assigns authority of four SSCC senators to officially communicate with
CSUEB’s student government. These senators will act as a bridge between the SSCC and
CSUEB’s student government.
Objective
· Formulate a team to search for Keynote speakers that can visit the Chabot
campus.
· Organize workshops were training sessions can take place for senators to improve
on their skills of writing resoltuions.
· To become more knowlegable on how to improve the drop-out rate of different
ethnicities on campus.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
The SSCC should appoint four Senators to officially serve as delegates of the SSCC to formally
communicate with CSUEB’s student government in regards to forming an M.O.U. We also must
establish a date for a formal meeting between SSCC and CSUEB’s student government to
examine the overall goals of the Ted Talk series and send a formal invitation to the CSUEB
student body to come and visit our campus and discuss the modalities of the Ted Talk during a
working lunch.

the foundation of the spring 2015 scholarships. The scholarships are worth a total of $30,000.
The structure of the scholarships will be provided as a separate appendix item.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
I recommend that the SSCC finalizes SSCC’s Spring 2016 scholarships.

Item:
5.3
From:
Corey Lowe, Finance Director & Interim ICC Chair
Subject:
Appointment of Param Singh as ICC Chair
BACKGROUND:
The Inter Club Council of Chabot College consists of 26 clubs. We had our first meeting of the
Spring 2016 semester on February 4th and I had opened up to the ICC that the SSCC is looking
again for a permanent ICC Chair.
Param Singh, ICC rep for Economics Club would like to be appointed as ICC Chair. He was the
SSCC’s original candidate for the ICC Chair in the Fall 2015 elections, however he did not meet
eligibility in Fall 2015. After speaking with Arnold, he confirmed that he is now eligible to be in
the SSCC.
Should he be approved, the Interim ICC Chair will consequently step down and allow the
permanent ICC Chair to pick up from where the Interim left off.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
I recommend that Param Singh, potential ICC Chair, provides a short speech about his goals as
ICC Chair. Then the SSCC will take a vote if he should be the permanent ICC Chair.

Item: 5.4
From: Rose Uche, Representative
Subject: Approval for funding for a Valentine’s Day Event
BACKGROUND:
With Valentine’s Day right around the corner it would be great if the SSCC can sponsor a small
event in the cafeteria. A small budget is being requested of $50 to cover the expenses of the
event.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve funds for chocolate candy and decorations for the event. The total funds of $50 is the
maximum requirement.
