Program Review Ed Master Plan 2015-2016 KLand/SGenera Over the next 6 years, what are your longer term vision(s) and goals? Include long term plans to scale up and align with other Chabot programs and/or services to reach more students, address equity, facilities request and community outreach plans. In order for there to be any kind of scale up and aligning with other programs and/or services there needs to be time and places to have these conversations. These kinds of conversations go beyond Staff Development and Flex Day workshops. There needs to be deep conversations around baseline pedagogy and alignment. Paid summer trainings, retreats and conferences need to be part of building collaboration. Throughout the semester a continued conversation needs to happen to successfully build collaborations. Areas we have tried in the past but have not been able to sustain are the Learning Community “We are Family” events where CIN!, Puente and Daraja programs and students held events around a shared theme both in class and extracurricular. The Math 53 is another example of building collaboration around Puente and Daraja students’ success in math, but there is no Learning Assistant, full time faculty, sustained study room hours or tutoring to go along with this high demand need. There has also been a lack of time for the faculty members of the Learning communities to partner and support the math component. Because of the various events and activities our Learning Communities and Special Programs offer throughout the year, it is imperative that the facilities coordination be streamlined. These events and activities are cyclical and occur every year. Updating of the process and database used to calendar campus-wide events needs to occur. Outreach and Welcome Center needs to be developed so that perspective students and community can schedule tours and visits on campus. The centro would be able to house materials, offer tours, and connect students to Learning communities. It needs to be a welcoming center that would address the needs and diversity of the Latino, African American and Pacific Islander communities. The centro should also have training on how to address needs for our disability and foster youth. Every year the Puente office gets requests for tours and support services to all areas of campus. In the near future, Chabot should be connected to all major corporations in our area and have a visible presence on campus. Especially visible in the Career Center offering job trainings, resume workshops, and career exploration from specific industry perspectives. Depending on the current construction and renovation projects on campus, there still may be a need for long term study spaces on campus equipped with the latest technology. Skype video conferencing is something that should be accessible across campus. Program Review Ed Master Plan 2015-2016 KLand/SGenera
