Office of the Dean of Instruction Summary of Program Review for Kinesiology & Athletics By Dale, Dean Curriculum: -All courses leveled through State mandates last year in PEAC, DANC…ongoing process that Curriculum Committee has been VERY responsive toward, need this to continue as we update our offerings to meet compliance criteria…leveling. -Rubric change to KINE for lecture courses. -Athletics classes split in compliance with State mandates. -Adaptive PE courses split also based on State guidelines. Instruction: -lots of online offerings here…need responsive COOL committee here. Student Success: -higher than College average in all areas. Initiatives: -interest in developing PEAK academy for HS instructors… Human Resources: -Coaching/Teaching hiring requested…will concentrate on only one replacement this year, even though multiple retirements over the last couple of years that have not been replaced… -FULL TIME tenure track instructor in Kinesiology/Head M/W Track and Field Coach. -Upgrade Women’s PE/Athletic Asst. to Athletic Technician, need Title IX equity here for Women’s programs to have support Technician…minimal fiscal cost, as we would not replace Athletic Asst. Fiscal Resources: -Athletics suffered multiple cuts through pre-Prop 30 years. Most of these have not been replaced even though the Dean has made constant requests to have them accommodated…since Program Review is place for all these requests, the Dean in consultation with the Faculty has requested @$50,000 in augmentations to the Budget in Kinesiology and Athletics to maintain operational needs…attached on xcel budget spreadsheet. Physical Resources: -New scoreboard in stadium…already approved, waiting for signature from Business Office…need action here. -Necessary upgrades to both Stadium seating and Track…will be safety issue soon. -New Baseball Field needed, along with Scoreboard…20th Century facility, which has some safety issues associated with it also. Technical Resources: -Internet to all sites in the Athletics area…in planning, but no current movement. Outreach & Articulation: -Faculty who are coaches do this continuously…this has been supported through fundraising activities through the gathering and housing of monies in Co-Curricular accounts…Business Office has closed off this mechanism without any form of support to the lost revenues…Outreach is not free…much time is donated here, there must be a College wide support mechanism for the use of Facilities to engage in fundraising, currently not being supported by the College…will effect long term outreach abilities from this group of faculty.
