TB test information
Some organizations, and most schools, require a TB test before you begin your project.
The Chabot Health Center, in Building 100, will provide free TB tests for Chabot
students. Results take a few days. Drop by or call 723-7625 for more information.
Submit your results directly to your site supervisor.
Fingerprinting information
Some organizations, and all schools, require fingerprinting before you begin your project.
If you are volunteering in a Hayward school, you must do the following process if you
are over 18 and will be contributing more than 8 hours at the school:
1) Fill out a “Volunteer Hayward!” Application form (your instructor will give you
one), and turn it in to your site supervisor. Your supervisor should send the form
in to the Hayward Unified School District office.
2) When the District office receives your application, you should get a follow-up
call from either Lisa Cote or Debbie Ou, who will schedule an appointment for
you. If you don’t get a call from them within a week or so, you can call Ms. Cote
at 784-2600, ext. 72640.
3) Fingerprinting results will be received within 1-2 weeks and will be sent directly
to you and to the school where you are volunteering. If you have trouble at any
stage of the process, or if you haven’t received your forms in the mail, you can
call the office, at 784-2600, Ext. 72593. Ask to speak to Debbie Ou, or the
fingerprinting person.
4) You should start the process before you begin your volunteer hours; however, it
is OK to begin your hours before you have received your results.
If you are volunteering at another organization (not a Hayward School) that requires
fingerprinting, ask your supervisor there about their fingerprinting process. Sometimes
there is a modest fee for fingerprinting services. Get started early, as results can take 2
weeks. If your organization does not have a set process, and you still need to get
fingerprinted, you can drop in at:
