Critical Utilities – “Gå-hem”-seminar
For some years we have been running short seminars within ISPE where we have the seminar at a
company facility without cost for ISPE. Thereby we can have these seminars for free for members.
Also all employees at the company where we have the seminar are invited for free. The meetings
are short 2-3 hours with 1-4 speakers on one or two topics.
This is the first time we do this in Sweden within Critical Utilities and the subject is “Science of
Stainless steel surfaces”. For years such items as passivation, passive layer, rouge and rouge
removal have been discussed. What is really the difference between a passive layer, rouge and
corrosion?
Critical Utilities have been one of the identified focus areas where authorities such as FDA has put
a lot of attention. This has triggered a need for standardisation and methods to maximise cost
effectiveness. Critical Utilities is also one of the few areas where the systems are working
continuously and therefore interesting from an engineering viewpoint.
The Critical Utilities Community of Practice (CU COP) provides a discussion and network forum for
Critical Utilities professionals by encouraging the sharing of ideas relevant to topics such as
system design, commissioning and qualification, process validation, re-qualification, regulations,
operations, and maintenance. The CU COP aspires to be the premier industry resource for the
provision of relevant and timely information related to Critical Utilities and to create and maintain
a body of knowledge specific to Critical Utilities through publications, best practice guides, and
educational programs.
