Worked with senior staff to develop and execute communication or administrative strategies in support of sports or operations. Assessed the direction and performance of sport programs and staff, assisted in the recruitment of coaches, staff and student talent, and helped develop schedules, budgets, contracts, policies and procedures.

Creatively, coordinated all aspects of internal communications. Wrote, designed and coordinated the publication or production of materials, led strategic planning efforts, and helped manage the department’s brand.
Contributed expertise, guidance and content to the external communications team responsible for all department messaging platforms (websites, broadcast, publications, social media, etc). Developed and managed the inaugural program for video streaming, broadcasting for Olympic sports, and for the department’s social media program.

Manager for interior book design; marketing, web and multimedia design, art and photo units; including responsibility for direct supervision of 14 employees who carried out the visual goals for the privately-owned publishing company. Responsibilities included ensuring that all visual components of books, publications, marketing materials, websites or online courses met aesthetic and technical objectives, that budgets and schedules were met, that staff was knowledgeable in a variety of technical media, and that matters of emerging technologies were considered and planned for appropriately.

Coordinated production of all publications, designed, updated and managed the website for 17 sports and was primary media contact for women’s basketball, gymnastics, softball, and volleyball. Tournament director for several prominent tournaments and NCAA postseason championship events.
Served as public address or on-air talent for the university from 1979 (began as a student) until leaving southern California in April 2000.

Primary responsibilities throughout or at the end of a 12-year career with the nationally prominent sporting/tourist venue, then home to teams known as the California Angels and Los Angeles Rams: all public relations functions
(community and media relations), publication coordination, tour program, speaker’s bureau and customer service management; departmental policy creation; human resources coordination for event and trades employees which included recruiting, interviewing, and training all stadium/golf employees; labor negotiation; and capital project management.

• Have served as on-air talent and public address announcer for high profile collegiate and professional sporting events for many years.
• Created and coordinated internship programs for Texas Tech, Human Kinetics, Cal State Fullerton and the City of Anaheim.
• Designed training, orientation and service evaluation programs—and conducted presentations of programs—for all part-time employees (more than 2,000) who were required to participate in the renowned Anaheim Way philosophy of guest service.

Baseball, the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT), and the National Collegiate Athletic
Association (NCAA).
