And
Texas Tech University - College of Education
In order to increase the number of Texas residents completing a bachelor's degree and to help the State of Texas
reach the goals set out in the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board's report Closing the Gaps, the Texas
Tech University College of Education (TTU) and Midland College (MC) deem it to be of mutual interest and
benefit to participate in a Student Access and Success Partnership program articulation agreement serving the
educational needs of MC students by providing pathways to baccalaureate degrees in the high-demand teacher
certification field of English as a Second Language (ESL) and Special Education.
The purpose of this agreement is to provide opportunities for MC students to transfer college credit hours
earned via the Associate of Arts in Teaching curriculum from their current institution to Texas Tech University
to complete a bachelor's degree in Multidisciplinary Studies.
Assured Admissions Criteria
MC students meeting the following TTU and College of Education assured admission standards for transfer are
guaranteed admission to the College of Education. The assured admission requirements are:
1. Apply to TTU after completing the Associate of Arts in Teaching degree at MC or at a minimum,
completed the State of Texas required 42-48 semester credit hour core curriculum;
2. Grade of "C" or higher in all courses on the certification plan; and
3. Have a 2.70 or better cumulative GPA on all college level coursework completed.
Texas Tech University agrees to:
1. Provide upper-division courses to support this articulated degree program as mutually agreed upon by
TTU and MC, and as approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and appropriate
accrediting bodies.
2. Provide all administrative and student-support functions of the Program under this agreement.
3. Exchange with MC enrollment information for each student subject to FERPA regulations (data
elements to be defined).
4. Offer only courses at junior and senior levels, non-duplicative of MC courses unless delivery of a TTU
lower-division course is first approved in writing MC and appropriate Higher Education Regional
Council notification has been made. TTU will only offer courses required for the degree program as
specified in separate articulation agreement.
5. Promote the seamless transfer of students to TTU by ensuring that MC course equivalency evaluations
are current and readily available to students and academic advisors at MC;
6. Provide pre-transfer academic advising per semester through the Office of Community College &
Transfer Relations academic advisors while students are attending MC.

7. Develop a process whereby transcript information from TTU will be reported back to MC to allow
for the awarding of "Reverse Articulated" associate degree(s);
8. Provide communication regarding admissions policy and procedure updates, campus recruitment events,
and scholarship opportunities to MC;
9. Provide a link to MC on the College of Education website;
10. TTU is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges
(SACSCOC). As part of this agreement and in order for TTU to remain compliant with SACSCOC
Comprehensive Standards, MC will ensure that all courses related to this agreement are taught by
qualified faculty holding appropriate and acceptable degrees and/or credentials as outlined by
SACSCOC Comprehensive Standards 3.4.11, 3.5.4 and 3.7.1.
Midland College agrees to:
1. Inform MC students of the availability ohhis articulated degree provided by TTU.
2. Promote the seamless transfer of students to TTU by ensuring that information on the transfer
equivalency for MC course(s) is current and readily available to both students and academic advisors at
MC.
3. Within legal guidelines, provide information about prospective transfer students with the goal of making
students aware of scholarship and other financial aid opportunities and the potential to satisfy Associate
and Bachelor's degree requirements by transferring course work between both institutions.
4. Provide a link to TTU, Community College & Transfer Relations, and the TTU - College of Education
websites for transfer information on the MC website;
5. Ensure that all courses related to this agreement are taught by qualified faculty holding appropriate and
acceptable degrees and/or credentials as outlined by the SACSCOC Comprehensive Standards 3.4.11,
3.5.4 and 3.7.1.
This agreement:
1. Shall commence when it has been signed by the appropriate administrator( s) of both institutions;
2. Shall continue until such time as either or both institutions wish to terminate the agreement by sending
written notification. In the event this agreement is terminated, both institutions agree to make
completion provisions for individual students participating in the program at the time of termination;
3. Annually, representatives of the institutions will review and, where appropriate, modify this agreement.
