Turn in the envelope to The Union Activities Office, SUB West Basement Room 020 or mail to: Union Activities – Singer/Songwriter Contest Texas Tech University Box 42031 Lubbock, TX 79409-2031. Music can be submitted in form of compact disc or USB. DO NOT write your name on the CD. No cassettes please. We will code them, so that you will remain anonymous during the first round of judging. If you write your name on the disc or USB you will be disqualified. Submission deadline is Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at 5:00 pm in the Union Activities Office. Rules and Regulations 1. The songs may be “live”, studio, or garage recordings, but must be entirely acoustic. The songs may be performed by the writer alone or by a group which must include the writer or writers. Both songs together should not exceed 8 minutes. All performers must be current Texas Tech University or South Plains College students. 2. Songs submitted must be the songs played at the contest on Thursday, March 3, 2016. 3. The writer(s) retain all rights to the songs. 4. Songs may be from any genre. 5. You must supply your own instruments at the contest, but sound will be provided. The instruments must be entirely acoustic. If you wish to use a keyboard, you must provide your own instrument and synchronizing cords. 6. The winning performer must be able to show up for sound check and perform the evening of Friday, April 8, 2016 at the spring concert with the time TBD. 7. The Tech Activities Board is a Texas Tech University student organization so please keep in mind that all acts represent both the Tech Activities Board and the university. Please note that we reserve the right to have the final say and end any performance that is deemed inappropriate. 8. You will know by Friday, February 19, 2016 by 5:00 P.M. if you have been selected to perform. Please expect this by email. 9. All judges decisions are final. Singer/Songwriter Artist Agreement If chosen to participate in the 2016 Singer/Songwriter Competition you should be available on these dates and times: You will need to arrive by 6:45 p.m. on March 3, 2016 at Barnes and Noble at the Texas Tech Café (SUB) ready to perform. At this time, you will be assigned a spot to play. You will be given 10 minutes to perform. Points will be deducted if you go over this time. You must also be available to perform at Raider City Limits on Friday April 8, 2016 time is TBD. - Please note: We do not allow any event will be as follows: o 1 microphone on boom stands o 1 direct input o 1 monitor electric music, only acoustic!
