Application Criteria
Required Material: To apply for the Pre‐Doctoral Fellowship, a candidate must submit a packet containing;  An official graduate transcript.  Documentation that prelims are completed, field exams completed, and the applicant is a PhD candidate. A letter from the advisor or graduate program coordinator is sufficient.  One letter of recommendation from the faculty member chairing your dissertation.  A current vita.  A short essay (1500 words max) describing; o The proposed theme for your dissertation. o The specific problem (or research area) you propose to study while in residence at ASU.  A writing sample—research paper or thesis essay. We anticipate appointing 3 to 5 Pre‐
Doctoral Fellows for the Spring 2013 semester. Decisions will be made by October 15, 2012. Accepted candidates will be notified. Logistics: The funding allows for a site visit of accepted candidates to search for housing. The center will assist candidates in making these arrangements. Faculty participating in the Pre‐Doctoral Program are happy to discuss potential research topics. Candidates are encouraged to contact individual faculty to discuss plans. W. P.
