Requirements to be reinstated after additional academic suspension:
1) At another institution, earn a 2.5 cumulative GPA by completing a minimum of 12 hours of
academically rigorous coursework that you have not previously completed.
2) Submit all transcripts for coursework completed at other institutions of higher education
attended since leaving Texas Tech.
3) Complete the Former Tech Application Form.
4) Write a 500 word personal statement explaining why you believe you should be reinstated in
the College of Arts & Sciences and submit to your Student Success Advisor at least 2 weeks
prior to the semester in which you wish to return.
5) File a petition to be readmitted form with the Office of Student Success.
6) After your petition has been processed, meet Dr. Iber during his office hours and he will
determine whether you can continue in the College of Arts & Sciences.
7) Meet with your major advisor:
a. Discuss course selections and grade replacement options.
b. SAP appeal paperwork (if necessary)
Requirements during the semester you are readmitted:
1) Register for PADR 0031 by calling the PADR Office 806.742.3928 (if not completed before)
2) Meet with your student success advisor:
a. At least twice during the semester in which you return.
b. Complete an Academic Success Plan.

AT LEAST a 2.0 GPA during the term of my reinstatement, I will be placed on additional academic

Step 3: Develop your plan!
Write down your most important goal for the semester that you return to Texas Tech. Using the
solutions that you came up with, list the steps you will take to reach your goal. Remember your goal
should be SMART.
Specific – Make your goal as specific as possible. If you want to raise your GPA, set your goal
for a specific number.
Measurable – Make sure your goal is measurable. If your goal is to study more, what does
“more” mean? 1 hour a week, 2 hours a week? Make sure you can measure whether you
achieved your goal or not.
Attainable – Do the math. Can you actually achieve your goal? Is it mathematically possible for
you to achieve the GPA you want in one semester? If the answer is no, you need to reevaluate.
Realistic – Be honest with yourself and know your abilities.
Timely – Set a timeline for reaching your goal.
