Forest Health Monitoring Program Monthly Update July 2014 - Supplement Job Opportunities The Arkansas Forestry Commission is currently advertising the position of Forest Health Specialist. The position is located in Little Rock, Arkansas and works under the direction of the Supervisor for the Forest Management Division. Candidates must have expertise and experience with Forest Health and Entomology and will be a statewide expert in forest insects and diseases and forest health. Responsibilities include forest health program management, Southern Pine Beetle Prevention Program management, providing statewide forest insect and disease information, conducting trainings and informational workshops for internal and external audiences, coordinating with other agencies, partners and cooperators on insect, disease and forest health issues, and responding to insect and disease inquiries from Commission foresters and staff. The Forest Health Specialist fills a critical role in coordinating and participating in annual insect surveys and will compile data and assist in preparing annual insect and disease reports for the Commission and USFS. The Forest Health Specialist will be responsible for the administration of local, state, and federal grants and the writing of project reports for funding/participating agencies.
