RAE NELL GRIGGS SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT APPLICATION FORM
The Rae Nell Scholarship Endowment is established by the generosity of the Lubbock Area Lights Chapter of the American Business
Women’s Association. The scholarship is designated to be awarded to a full time, undergraduate or graduate student. Student
must be enrolled in a class associated with the Women’s Studies Program at Texas Tech University, or a course pertaining to
women’s and gender studies (as deemed by the Women’s Studies Program Director.) Upon receipt of the award, student is
required to attend at least one meeting of the Lubbock Area Lights-American Business Women’s Association for gift recognition. The
scholarship award is $500 for one semester (Fall or Spring) and may be awarded repeatedly at the discretion of the Director of
Women’s Studies. A new application must be filed each year.
Minimum qualifications for consideration are (attach all written materials to this form):
1. A 3.0 Cumulative GPA in academic work.
2. The completion of a brief essay (not more than 500 words) explaining the applicant's interest and involvement in matters
particularly relevant to women's lives.
3. Two letters of recommendation from faculty or others familiar with the applicant's academic work and interests.
4. A brief summary of extracurricular activities such as honors, achievements, memberships, scholastic awards and
professional accomplishments.
Students must complete this application form and submit it, along with the essay, letters of recommendation, and summary of
extracurricular activities to: The Office of Women's Studies, Attn: Scholarship Review, Box 42009, Texas Tech University, Lubbock,
TX 79409-2009. For on campus mail, the mail address is Mail Stop 2009.
All application forms must be completed, with written materials including letters of recommendation, and received by
5:00 PM on February 1 Late and/or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
