I. The Graduate Council minutes are available in the Graduate School office and on the Graduate

II. A motion was made by David Weinberg and seconded by Gopal Lakhani to approve the minutes
from the 5th meeting of the Graduate Council held on Thursday, February 4, 2010. The Graduate
Council approved these minutes.
III. Students admitted to Doctoral Candidacy.
The following students were admitted to candidacy for the doctorate on the recommendation of
their departments. A motion was made by Aretha Marbley and seconded by Kent Wilkinson.

A motion was made by Kent Wilkinson and seconded by Gary Elbow on the consideration of
including a minimum G.P.A. requirement for admission to Graduate School in the University
catalog on page 68. The vote was 1 in favor and 10 disapprove. After a brief discussion a second
motion was made by Gary Elbow and seconded by Brian Zugay to not make any substantive
changes in the current catalog statement. The vote was 10 in favor and 1 disapprove.
VII. Announcements:
Rahul Kanungoe announced that the Graduate School Senators have been invited to attend a Big 12
conference at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The conference will be
completely Graduate School based.
The Graduate Council adjourned at 3:45 p.m. The next Graduate Council meeting will be
Thursday, April 1, 2010.
