Minutes for Meeting of January 28, 2008
A scheduled meeting of ASCAP was held on Monday, January 28 at 3:00 p.m. in Holden Hall 129.
Committee members present were: Ken Baake, Greg Gellene, Ram Iyer, Anthony Qualin, Mark Stoll,
and David Roach. Presenters were: Dennis Patterson, Justin Hart, Ron Milam (History); LTC Bob
Buscher (Military Science), Col. David Lewis (Aerospace Studies); and Sean Grass, Ann Hawkins, and
Sam Dragga (English).
1. Committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the following proposal from the
Department of English.
• Add Graduate Certificate Program in Publishing and Editing.
2. Committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the following proposal from the
Department of History.
• Add HIST 4338 History of Small Wars.
Due to time constraints of the meeting, it was not possible for the committee to fully discuss the following
proposals. These proposals will be reviewed and discussed further in the next ASCAP meeting.
3. Committee needs more review and evaluation of the following proposal from the Institute for Modern
Conflict, Diplomacy and Reconciliation.
• Add Graduate Certification Program in Strategic Studies
4. Committee needs more review and evaluation of the following proposal from the Institute for Modern
Conflict, Diplomacy and Reconciliation.
• Add MCDR 5300 Foundations of Strategic Study.
• Add MCDR 5306 Security and Intelligence in Post 911.
• Add MCDR 5307 Seminar in Strategic Studies.
5. Committee needs more review and evaluation of the following proposal from the Department of
History.
• Add HIST 5332 Studies Abroad in Southeast Asia
The next regularly scheduled meeting of ASCAP is set for Monday, February 11, for proposals that reach
the committee and the Dean’s office by Monday, February 4.
