Participating in club and organizational activities enables students to build strong leadership skills while
reinforcing classroom learning. Students not only excel in the classroom, but also in academic
competitions and in campus, state, and national roles.

Ag Council
Purpose: Unite students in CASNR through membership of
representatives from each club and organization in the College
Activities: Ag Fest, Homecoming Breakfast, Pig Roast, Ag
Olympics, Ag Honors Banquet, monthly meetings, and assist
with various College and campus events

Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow
Purpose: Stimulate interest in the profession of agricultural
communications; to promote the interchange of ideas among
students, faculty members, and other ACT chapters; establish
professional contacts through the organization
Activities: National Critique and Contest, ACT National
Convention, annual banquet, Mass Communication
Appreciation Luncheon, Livestock Publication Council
critique and contest, and guest speakers

Agricultural Economics Association
Purpose: Promote the economic components of agriculture
Activities: Bi-monthly meetings, trips to Southern & National
Conventions, fall and spring socials, intramural softball team,
annual fertilizer sale, spring trip, annual hotdog supper, annual
steak fry and student recruitment activities

Agronomy Club
Purpose: Provide activities to develop professional skills,
learn the latest advancements in the crop and soil sciences,
biotechnology, and agronomic industrial sectors
Activities: National convention-student activities subdivision
of the American Society of Agronomy, "Take a Kid to the
Game", student speech competitions, Texas ASA state
meetings, annual agronomy club banquet, canned food drive,
selling agronomy hats, Southern Region meeting

Alpha Gamma Rho
Purpose: Unite agricultural majors in a fraternal brotherhood
Activities: Intramural sports, social and business activities

American Society of Landscape Architects
Purpose: Advance students' education and skills in the art of
landscape architecture and encourage participation in the
affairs of the national organization, the local chapter
Activities: Monthly meetings, fall and spring socials, national
and state conferences, office visits, design competitions,
LABash (the national conference for ASLA Student Chapters)

Block and Bridle
Purpose:
Promote agriculture and provide a better
understanding of the diversified livestock industry around
West Texas and the world
Activities: Livestock Day, Little International Showmanship
Contest, Animal Science Banquet, and Academic Quadrathlon

Collegiate FFA
Purpose: Promote fellowship among agricultural students,
encourage close relations with agricultural agencies and
establish high standards for individuals entering the field
Activities: Barrow Sale, intramural sports, fall BBQ,
Professor Appreciation Breakfast, Spring Awards Banquet

Collegiate 4-H
Purpose: Participate in service and educational programs for
the University and area 4-H clubs, serve as a liaison between
the Texas Agricultural Extension Service, Texas 4-H, and
Texas Tech
Activities: Conduct leadership workshops, support local 4-H
programs, attend regional and national conferences, represent
club at State 4-H Roundup and participate in community
service projects

Dr. Brock’s Pre-Vet Society
Purpose: Promote pre-veterinary medicine and fellowship
among pre-vet students
Activities: Local service and educational projects and
participation in state and national pre-vet society meetings

Donald Ashdown Entomology Club
Purpose: Promote interest in entomology
Activities: Special speakers, picnics, and departmental service

FarmHouse Fraternity
Purpose: An agricultural-based fraternity dedicated to
building men in all areas: intellectually, physically, socially,
morally and spiritually
Activities: Texas Tech Interfraternity Council, Mid-American

Agronomy Association, Student Senate, Second Harvest

Food Science Club
Purpose: Unite and educate students who have a common
interest in the food industry and related fields
Activities: Cheese manufacture and sales, pizza party, end of
semester bash, IFT College Bowl, Suppliers Night, guest
speakers and professional and trade meetings, career
development activities, and providing community service

Horticulture Society
Purpose: Promote the discipline of horticulture
Activities: Attend professional meetings, public and social
events, fundraisers, guest speakers, and scholarship awards

Meat Science Association
Purpose: Support the meat judging teams and promote the
meat science and muscle biology programs at Texas Tech
Activities: Host meals for Cargill Meat Solutions Judging
Contest, cater university and other public activities, semester
field trips, host meats contests at San Antonio and Area FFA

Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and
Related Sciences (MANRRS)
Purpose: Support endeavors that will foster and promote the
agricultural sciences among ethnic minority students
Activities: Promote leadership development in students,
career and academic counseling, and keep students abreast of
state, national, and international trends in the agricultural
sciences and related fields

Tech Collegiate Horsemen’s Association
Purpose: Support all equine related clubs, teams, and
activities at Texas Tech
Activities: ACHA National Convention, fundraisers, riding
clinics, horse shows

Range, Wildlife, and Fisheries Club
Purpose: Promote the involvement and professional
development of students interested in range, wildlife, and
fisheries management
Activities: Featured speakers, community service, social
activities, Buck Hunt

Sigma Alpha-Professional Agricultural Sorority
Purpose: A professional sorority dedicated to promoting
women in all facets of agriculture
Activities: Fall and spring formals, fall and spring retreats,
barn dance, Christmas caroling for Lubbock State School,
Ronald McDonald House volunteers, various fund-raisers
throughout the year, mixers, national convention in fall

Tech Rodeo Association
Purpose: Unite students with an interest in rodeo
Activities: The club produces the largest intercollegiate rodeo
in the United States during the fall semester, booth, and dance

Purpose: An organization comprised of graduates and
undergraduates committed to promote of the beef industry and
the development of networks

Tech Turf
Purpose: Promote and advance the turfgrass management
profession; exchange information and ideas between students
and professionals about career direction and credentials needed
Activities: Compete in the Turf Bowl at the Golf Course

each year; host the Tech Turf Classic; professional speakers

Purpose: Promote academic development
Activities: Represent TTU in the Academic Quizbowl

Purpose: Display TTU’s cattle and develop industry

Purpose: Promote critical thinking and oral communication
skills and prepare students for equine related industries

knowledge of entomology
Activities: Practice sessions, attend Southwestern Branch of

Livestock and Meat Evaluation Team
Purpose: Promote oral and written communication and
decision making skills relative to live carcass and
performance data of livestock in order to pursue excellence

Ranch Horse Team
Purpose: Promote the AFS department’s Equine Program by
traveling to competitive ranch horse state shows, preserve
TTU’s ranching heritage, and develop riding techniques and
industry contacts for a career in the equine industry
Activities: Stock Horse of Texas Shows, Ranch Horse
Association of America Shows, AQHA Versatility Shows,
APHA Versatility Shows

Soil Judging Team
Purpose: Teach students to judge and class soils
Activities: Students participate in regional and national soil
judging contests held across the country

competition through horse shows at various colleges
Activities: Traveling to compete in IHSA horse shows,
