5th Annual Philosophy Graduate Student Conference at Texas Tech University Topic: Contemporary Issues in Social/Political Philosophy Keynote: Henry Shue – Merton College, Oxford [Senior Research Fellow, Centre for International Studies, DPIR; and Senior Research Fellow, Emeritus (active), Merton College] Dates: 15-16 April 2011 Submission Deadline: 1 December 2010 The Texas Tech Philosophy Graduate Student Association (PGSA) is looking for presenters for its graduate student conference. The conference topic is “Contemporary Issues in Social/Political Philosophy.” Papers on any subject within the general parameters of the topic will get consideration, but the following subjects will receive strong consideration: Rawls Rawls’ critics, especially Communitarians, Perfectionists, and G.A. Cohen Just War Theory Torture Terrorism Nationalism Multiculturalism Global Justice Game Theory Transnational Feminism Environmental Issues The Texas Tech PGSA will give every speaker an honorarium to help curb travel expenses. Papers should be no longer than 3000 words, and speakers should plan on delivering a 30minute presentation. Abstracts should be no longer than 250 words.
