The 2016 UNI Writing Awards
for excellence in writing criticism, poetry, short fiction, or creative nonfiction/personal essay
by full-time UNI undergraduates enrolling for Fall 2016
(to be presented at the Department of Languages & Literatures Reception Saturday April 23, 2016)
Requirements:
A. a writing sample from one of the following categories without the writer’s name (please check the type
of entry submitted):
____ Creative nonfiction/personal essay: up to 12 double-spaced pages, MLA format and
documentation style;
____ Short fiction: one or more short stories, up to a total of 12 double-spaced pages;
____ Poetry: one or more poems, up to 6 single-spaced pages.
____ Critical writing: up to 12 double-spaced pages, MLA format and documentation style. Essays
submitted in this category include writing about pedagogy, the history of literature and/or literary
criticism, the history of film and/or film criticism, or professional writing.
B. a completed copy of this entry form submitted with your writing sample.
