Andrew Ortiz
Andrew is a MVP Program Specialist and our featured
team member for April 2016.
Andrew has worked in the MVP office since March 2015. Originally
from Midland, TX, Andrew graduated in 2005 from Robert E. Lee
High School and began serving in the United States Marine Corps soon after. As a Field Artillery
Fire Direction Control Man, he attended his occupational school in Ft. Sill, OK and was stationed
in Camp Pendleton, CA after graduation.
While being stationed in California, Andrew had the opportunity to deploy multiple times in
support of a wide variety of operations. From March – October of 2007, he was deployed in
support of Operation Iraqi Freedom with Kilo Battery, 1st Battalion, 12th Marines as convoy security based in Ramadi, Iraq. In 2008 he was sent on the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit where
he spent time living in Japan, as well as living and working with Filipino Marines in the Sulu
Province of the Philippines, Jolo Island. After returning, he attended the Marine Artillery Operations Chief Course and went on his final deployment in support of the 13 th Marine Expeditionary Unit in 2011 aboard the USS Boxer. Andrew wrapped up his last 2 and a half years of service
as a Recruiter in Beeville, TX.
After separating in July, Andrew began his studies at Texas Tech in August 2014. He is currently
a senior accounting major at the Rawls College of Business School of Accounting and will apply
to the Masters of Science in Accounting program this semester.
During his free time, Andrew has a passion for exploring new places and
spending time outdoors with his family. Luckily, his wife, Liz, and daughter, Caroline, love it just as much and enjoy taking the camper out to find
exciting places that have natural beauty and adventure. In addition, two
Dachshunds – Chloe and Charlie – may be found tagging along.
MVP would like to thank Andrew for his service to veterans and
their families!

sexual harassment during military service and has services available to assist Veterans in their recovery from MST.
Veterans can receive free treatment for mental and physical health conditions related to their experiences of MST at
every VA medical facility. Veterans do not need to have documentation of their experiences and may be able to receive
care even if they are not eligible for other VA services.
Veterans can apply for disability compensation for any current difficulties that are related to their service, including difficulties related to MST.
