Carol Anne Marchetti, PHD, RN, PMHNP-BC,
SANE
Dr. Carol Anne Marchetti is a Clinical Associate Professor at the Boston
College Connell School of Nursing, and a board-certified, Family
Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She served as the President
of the New England Chapter of the American Psychiatric Nurses
Association from 2013-2014 and she holds an appointment as Associate
Clinical Adjunct Professor at Northeastern University Bouvé College of
Health Sciences School of Nursing. Carol has been a Massachusetts Sexual
Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) since 2004 and recently accepted a
position as a Nurse Practitioner at Boston Medical Center in the
Department of Psychiatry, Boston Emergency Services Team. Throughout
her nursing career, she has cared for individuals across the lifespan in
pediatric and neonatal intensive care units, emergency departments,
psychiatric hospitals, and outpatient clinics. She earned a bachelor’s degree
in Nursing from UMass Boston and received a master’s degree, nursing
post-graduate teaching certificate, and PhD from Boston College. Her
program of research is focused on trauma responses and decision-making,
particularly regarding regret and the police reporting of sexual assault.
Also, she has researched SANE attitudes regarding the possibility of cross
training to care for younger children in emergency care settings. As an
Assistant Professor at Northeastern from 2011-2015, she served as an
advisor to baccalaureate, master, and doctoral students; and taught
undergraduate and graduate nursing courses in pathophysiology,
psychiatric-mental health nursing, the psychobiology of mental illness, and
evidence-based research. Dr. Marchetti is excited to be back at BC where
she will be teaching psychiatric-mental health nursing to traditional and
master’s entry nursing students.
