CONFUCIUS INSTITUTE STUDY ABROAD SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION CRITERIA & INFORMATION
The all-inclusive program fee is $9,500. The Confucius Institute offers two levels of Study Abroad
Scholarship, making the final cost at $3,500 or $5,500:

Level I: A scholarship of $6,000. The final program fee that you pay is $3,500.

Level II: A scholarship of $4,000. The final program fee that you pay is $5,500.
The factors that determines your scholarship includes your GPA, past coursework, past participation
in Chinese language and culture language and activities, and how you will benefit from participating
in this program.
The following items need to be submitted in order to be considered for the CI scholarship:
1) A signed copy of this scholarship application form.
2) A signed copy of the program registration form.
3) Evidence of your Chinese language proficiency (e.g., HSK exam test certificate, unofficial transcript)
4) A copy of your unofficial transcript showing your cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above.
5) Submit names, title, and contact information (Phone and e-mail) of two references (at least one from a
faculty at home university).
6) Write an essay (no more than two single-spaced typed pages) describing your knowledge of the Chinese
language and culture, and the Confucius Institute, and explaining how you will benefit from this
program.
