Of the 10 students in spring 06, four passed the exam first time, and the remaining passed only some sections. These students are scheduled to retake their exams in Summer 2006. Two graders reviewed the answers and used a rubric to assess quality of the answers. The rubric consisted of key measurable outcomes such as organization of the answers, integration of the relevant literature, completeness and articulation of answers, and depth of understanding of subject matter. Summated scores were calculated to determine pass or fail. Examination committee members provided special tutoring and advice to students who had failed. Areas of improvement were recommended. The tutorials helped students to improve their performance in exams. Emphasis was also placed on learning new statistical tools to test theories and hypotheses. More guidance was given by the DBA committee and the DBA director to help students to better prepare for the comprehensive examination.
