Within the next few weeks, the Catholic Appeal office will mail out a pledge form to all those past Annual Catholic Appeal donors who have not yet given in 2005. In collaboration with other faith communities in Newton, we will work to finance and build one of the two duplex units Habitat has planned for the Webster Park area of West Newton (the business community in Newton will do the same for the other unit). St. Ignatius will work on a number of fundraising initiatives while also providing the “people power” builders at the home site during the summer and into the fall months. Please keep an eye on the bulletin and our Social Ministries page on the parish web site for the latest information on the project. Dear Parishioners: We at St. Francis House would like to take a moment to express our sincere thanks for all your help. The clothing that you donate through your parish clothing drives helps to clothe over 150 poor and homeless guests per week here at St. Francis House. I wish that I could say that the problem of homelessness has an end; that clear skies are on the horizon for all those who are poor and homeless. But it is not that easy. The problem of homelessness is ongoing… And so is their need for clothing and other basic items. Today I am writing to you with information about helping our guests at St. Francis House, not only at the time of your parish clothing drive, but how you can help throughout the year.
