CLASSIFICATION TITLE: HUMAN SERVICES PLANNER/EVALUATOR
WORKING TITLE: PROJECT DIRECTOR/RECLAIMING FUTURES
THIS IS A TWO YEAR GRANT FUNDED POSITION
JOB LOCATION: ADMINISTRATION
Job Description:
The Project Director position is a fulltime benefitted position. This position is designed
to oversee the connection of youth to treatment who are involved with the Juvenile
Services Division in McDowell County. It will be the responsibility of the Project
Director to assure that the youth and family follow up with the treatment provider, obtain
releases of information if they are not already on file, and, after the youth is connected to
a provider, to act as a central point of contact for the five community-based adolescent
treatment providers that contract with the County if communication issues arise between
DCJ staff and treatment providers. The position would also work with system partners
like the County Department of Social Services, the state Department of Human Services,
and community-based treatment providers as needed to develop policy and procedures
that will speed up the process of connecting youth to treatment and regularly review data
submissions from probation officers and treatment providers to assure that referrals are
being made and DCJ is receiving timely reports on youth progress from treatment
providers. This is a two year grant funded position.
To implement the daily activities and general project operation of Reclaiming Futures
McDowell County. This position calls for demonstrated administrative and
organizational skills, with the ability to carry out responsibilities with a minimum
supervision. Candidate must be comfortable working with at-risk youth and possess
knowledge of multi-cultural/multi-ethnic differences. The candidate must have a have a
working knowledge of community human service resources and community
organizations. Candidate should possess flexibility of both time and temperament in
order to ensure optimum participation in the project of youth, families, Fellow, and
stakeholders. Must have strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft
and excel.
The position is responsible for day to day project operation. The Project Director will
coordinate all components of the Reclaiming Futures McDowell initiative. Those
components are composed, but not limited to:
1. Completing a readiness toll and short term (2 Year) plan implementation
2. Complete curriculum with all related exercises
3. Arrange and participate in monthly Fellow meeting and provide information
regarding program.
4. Develop long term (2 Year ) plan
5. Attend any and all training made available through Reclaiming Futures or Duke
Endowment
6. Develop data collecting system and collect pertinent initiative data and provide
monthly updates during Fellow meetings
7. Develop community partners through attending community meeting, such as
Child Collaborative, Community Multi-Disciplinary meetings, etc.
Minimum Training and Experience Requirements:
Requirement for job: BA/BS in social work, Education, Psychology, Criminal Justice or
related field. Experience working with youth required. Must possess valid driver’s
license, submit to criminal check, and provide own transportation.
Salary depending upon experience
PERSONAL VEHICLE FOR TRANSPORTING CHILDREN OR ADULTS IS
REQUIRED
COMPUTER PROFICIENCY IS REQUIRED. BI-LINGUAL ABILITY IS
DESIRABLE.
