Adkins HONRS 499: Senior Thesis Project Faculty Advisors: Shelley Sanders and Kip Shawger April 27, 2004 Graduation date: May 8, 2004 Abstract This multimedia presentation featuring the Ball State Women's Golfprogram includes video clips and photos collected during the last four years. It highlights the team's experiences and attitudes while participating in golf and social functions at Ball State University since the team's inception in fall 2000. This finale presentation for the fourth-year team's inaugural season-finale banquet is valuable beyond the scope of personal enjoyment experienced creating the project. After viewing the presentation, the coach and players, as well as their guests and parents, will better understand and appreciate the bond teammates share in a collegiate athletic program. Nearly all members of the team contributed at least a few humorous, sentimental or action photos to the project, and several members requested specific songs be included in the presentation. Many of the songs are personal favorites. The video clips and photos, strategically set to music and sound effects, are intended to stir emotions, provide closure for gradnating seniors, serve as entertainment and provoke interest in the program. If uploaded to the team's Ball State web page, this project could serve as a valuable marketing tool to attract new, prospective recruits. The photo manipulation skills learned in magazine design classes, interviewing techniques acquired in magazine journalism classes and basic knowledge of audio editing obtained in iComm and MUMET courses were integral in developing this piece. Acknowledgements Thanks to faculty advisors Shelley Sanders, BSU Head Women's Golf Coach, for her continued and unconditional support during the making of this project and the last four years and Kip Shawger, Department of Theater, for supplying high-quality action photos, lending his technical expertise and devoting so much time and effort to supporting the women's golf program.
