class entering 2011

notes

* All TELL candidates must complete a non-credit workshop on administering and scoring the MELA-O in order to be considered highly qualified in Massachusetts to teach in an SEI classroom.

* * Insert a T (transfer) or W (waiver) as appropriate. If seeking a transfer of credits, you must also fill out a “transfer request form” available online. If requesting a waiver, you must attach an official transcript to this form. Students are strongly discouraged from applying for waivers for the pre-practicum experience. Waivers will only be granted to students with extensive teaching experience in the appropriate discipline and at the level of licensure that is sought.

***Completing these courses of study does not guarantee licensure. For teaching in Massachusetts, you must pass the

Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure ( mtel ) and apply for licenses from the Massachusetts Department of

Education. Other rules apply in other states and countries.

Other tell notes: Participants are expected to work with ell students during the course of study. Consult with your advisor.
