department ladder? Earn the credentials to be competitive in the job market by completing
the Clinical Research Certificate Program. The field of Clinical Research is rapidly expanding
and offers many career opportunities. This program will give you an understanding of the
“landscape” of clinical research, including the duties of the following roles: Clinical Research

CNN lists Clinical Research Associate as the 6th Fastest Growing Job in America and 9th Best Job in
America
• There are more than 550 biotech and pharmaceutical companies located in Massachusetts;
314 of these companies are drug development companies. (BioSpace.com)
• Employment in the (Biopharma) industry has grown 12x faster than state and national growth
rates for all employment. (MassBio.org)
• In a highly competitive job market like that seen during the economic downturn, education
becomes an increasingly important factor in candidate selection, especially early in the hiring
process when employers are likely to use degree held as a way to narrow the applicant field.
(BioSpace.com)
The clinical research field is a new, stimulating, and innovative career choice. As a result of the recent
movement to speed up drug and medical device development, the need for scientifically trained
professionals to coordinate research studies has increased. The Clinical Research Certificate Program
includes a rigorous curriculum to prepare you for today’s competitive marketplace.
IS THIS PROGRAM FOR YOU?
These multidisciplinary courses
have been designed for professionals interested in moving into the field
of pharmaceutical/clinical research.
Hospitals and pharmaceutical companies seek out nurses or people with a
science background for these roles because they have a scientific knowledge
base, good interpersonal skills, and experience working with physicians and
other nurses.
This course is beneficial for a professional seeking to advance or change
specialties. Participants have also used
this course as a review for certification

Medical Spanish Certificate
Today’s medical professionals must adapt to meet the challenges that come with the growing
demographic diversity in the population. The reality for many health care professionals is that
Spanish is the first language of a large percentage of the population served.
These challenges are linguistic and cultural at their
roots. This often requires that health care providers
learn to communicate clearly and effectively with
patients and their relatives in a second language.
Miscommunication and misunderstanding of
critical information can impact everyday patient
care, including matters of life and death. The
ability to speak basic Spanish reduces the need for
providers to enlist the services of an interpreter for
common communication tasks and assists health
care professionals in providing culturally sensitive
care.
