POST-DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP IN RESILIENCY AND INTEGRATED HEALTHCARE
INITIATIVES
Dr. Jennifer Langhinrichsen-Rohling, Director of the University of South Alabama’s Gulf Coast
Behavioral Health and Resiliency Center (GCBHRC) and Professor in the Psychology
Department, is seeking a fulltime Postdoctoral Fellow to serve as Evaluation Coordinator for the
Mental and Behavioral Health Capacity Project. This position would be for the remainder of Dr.
Langhinrichsen-Rohling’s 5-year funding from BP and the Medical Benefits Class Counsel
which supports mental and behavioral health treatment and longer-term supportive services to
improve the overall well-being of individuals, families, and communities in lower Alabama.
GCBHRC is offering a one-year, full-time postdoctoral fellowship to begin upon hire and
continue until August 31, 2017.
Eligible candidates should have a PhD in psychology, human development, sociology, or a
related field with experience in conducting research and analyses on cross-sectional and
longitudinal data. The postdoctoral fellow should have advanced statistical training and
experience including the use of Hierarchical Linear Modeling and Multivariate Multiple
Regression Analysis. The ideal candidate would also have an interest in the implementation of
Integrated Healthcare and/or in Marriage & Family Process research.
The Fellow will be responsible for:








Initiating new assessment and evaluation strategies, as warranted
Developing research dissemination ideas (manuscripts, posters, papers)
Participating in grant identification and writing, as interested
Assisting Leadership Team members with research and intervention protocol
development
Contributing to IRB submissions/renewals
Adhering to and ensuring team compliance with Integrated Health, Workflow, and Client
Change measures set in place by the Director of Training & Evaluation as stated in IRB
submissions
Contributing statistical findings to Quarterly, Annual, and other reports
If interested, the Fellow could also facilitate innovative initiatives such as: Promoting an
on-site Marriage and Family Resiliency Clinic or considering mechanisms within primary
care settings to assess for and intervene related to intimate partner violence
The Fellow will also have the opportunity to obtain licensure in the State of Alabama and
conduct and be supervised doing some clinical work in one of the GCBHRC’s multiple settings,
many of which serve diverse and under-resourced populations, which include integrated
healthcare clinics, schools, and a developing Marriage & Family Clinic. All settings the
GCBHRC currently work in provide a ground-breaking opportunity to help shape local and state
standards of mental/behavioral healthcare practice. The fellowship involves working with a
multidisciplinary team of clinical psychologists, social workers, public health trainers, graduate
students, and project staff members in addition to the medical/educational professionals in
clinical practice. As such, the selected candidate must possess excellent written and spoken
communication skills which are flexible to the audience and presentation needs.
Due to the nature of the position, the chosen candidate will have the opportunity and expectation
to publish research articles based on the analysis of existing datasets collected through multiple
sources over the life of the funding (three years to-date). The fellowship provides extraordinary
opportunities to work with an accomplished team in publishing and disseminating findings from
a large variety of datasets. There will also be opportunities to work with publication teams from
multiple nationally-recognized Gulf Coast universities and agencies. The selected candidate
will be supported by many of the Gulf Coast’s most prolific and accomplished statistical
researchers/authors.

Eligibility
Candidates should have completed or be near completion of their doctoral degree from an APAaccredited program in clinical or counseling psychology or have completed an advanced degree
in public health, statistics, or a related field.
