Guidelines - Australian Scholarships Group (ASG) Emergency Relief Grants Four ASG Emergency Relief Grants are awarded annually for six years commencing 2012. The scheme offers an award of $500 to each successful applicant. This grant can be applied for any time of the year. 1 Objectives of the scheme The ASG Emergency Relief Grants are provided to support Higher Degree by Research (HDR) students: 2 As a short-term assistance to relief the candidate’s pressure of financial strain for a period of candidature time To assist candidate towards completion of research Eligibility Criteria Applicants who meet the following criteria are eligible to apply. 3 All Faculty of Education HDR students, other than Monash University continuing staff members, who are currently enrolled can apply for this grant. Candidates under examination or on the lapsed candidature are not eligible Should have successfully completed confirmation of candidature Candidate who is in financial hardship and is able to make a written case Candidate who has not previously received an ASG Emergency Relief Grant. This condition is placed to give all students an equal opportunity for consideration of an application. Selection An AGS Selection Panel convened by the Chair of the Research Degrees Subcommittee, with two other members nominated by the Research Degrees Committee (RDC) will determine the successful awardees. Selection will be based on: Genuineness of financial hardship; Ability to convince the panel on how this temporary financial assistance will greatly ease a time of financial hardship significantly. Be able to show how the financial aid is able to significantly assist you in your candidature. Note that preference will be given to candidates who are approaching completion and submission of their thesis.
