of the Academic Senate
Minutes of the Meeting held on December 17th, 2013
Present: A. Borrachero (Committee Chairperson), M. Chauhan (Committee Secretary), R.
Yuster, A. Kolios, S. Jacobowitz , L. Zinger, A. Corradetti (ex-officio, President’s Designee), E.
Tai (ex-officio, Steering Committee Designee)
Absent: D. Klarberg, E. Shinn Hong (Student Representative); Cartier Alonzo (Student
representative)
1. The meeting was called to order at 2 pm in H-345.
2. Minutes of Dec 3rd, 2013 meeting were approved by the committee.
3. Dr. Emily Tai familiarized the committee with the new High School-Early College initiative.
The committee discussed the topic and posed questions such as:
a. What are benefits of this initiative?
b. Will the college students take the courses at QCC or at the high school facilities?
c. Is it a pedagogically advisable to enroll students on a specific professional track as early as
high school?
d. If the students have second thoughts about the program, will they be able to change course?
What will the consequences be?
e. Will there be a discussion with the college faculty and the curriculum committee regarding the
curriculum of this program?
4. Course changes in ECON-160 were discussed. The committee would like to see the syllabus
of the course and also would like to know that why ECON 260 was not presented as a new
course. What would be the status of ECON-160? Will it be deleted?
5. Department of Art and Design, Program revisions: A.A.S. Digital Art and Design were
approved by the committee.
6. The meeting was adjourned at 3.20 PM.
