ROSES FOR LIFE
The rose has long been a symbol of life and love. Once again, on Mother’s Day weekend, May
11/12th , the Massachusetts Citizens for Life, through members of our parish Respect Life Committee,
will distribute silk roses at church entrances. All proceeds benefit pro-life work.
BOOK DISCUSSION
On June 2nd, there will be a discussion of Tattoos on the Heart by Fr. Gregory Boyle. This book,
available in Spanish as well as English, contains essays about universal kinship and redemption,
moving examples of the power of unconditional love and the importance of fighting despair. All
are welcome to come to the upstairs living room of the parish offices on June 2nd at 11:15 to share
their reactions to this book.
SIYA ST. IGNATIUS YOUNG ADULTS
Our group ministers to the spiritual needs of both married and single adults in their twenties and
thirties by providing a community in which young professionals, recent college graduates and
graduate students can share their faith and support one another in their following of Christ.
Come to our Social after the 5:30 pm Mass on Sunday, May 12th. We meet at 6:30 pm
in the Friary Room (Lower Church) Bring a friend, catch up with friends, meet new people,
share some laughs and good food. This will be our last social of the season.
SIYA soon! Contact Quentin Dupont, S.J. at SIYAthere@gmail.com
DO YOU WANT MORE INSIGHT INTO THE READINGS YOU HEAR AT MASS?
Join us for PASTA & PRAYER, a prayerful conversation with friends over dinner to discuss the Sunday
scriptures. Feed your body, mind and soul!
The next session, Getting Another Chance, discussing readings for Ordinary time (Part 1), will take
place on Thursday, May 16, 2013 in the Dining Room at the Parish Office from 6:30 to 8:30pm. Prior registration
required: Call Catherine at 617-782-5812 or Email to cfdesq@hotmail.com to reserve a place at the table.
OUTREACH MINISTRIES
SPRING/SUMMER CLOTHING DRIVE: Thank you for your many donations to last weekend’s
clothing drive. The donations will go a long way in assisting the many Guests who look to St. Francis
House for these basic needs.
To learn more about the many works of SFH, go to:
www.stfrancishouse.org.
WALK FOR HUNGER WRAP-UP:
Last Sunday was a glorious day – weather-wise
and outreach-wise for St. Ignatius.
More than seventy-five TEAM IGNATIUS
members walked several different routes and raised more than twice the TEAM goal of
$2,500. A big thanks to the families, friends and parish family members who supported
the Walkers! Together, we are making a difference by supporting Project Bread’s fresh approach
to ending hunger. Please go to www.projectbread.org to see just how your donation will be put to
use. And remember, Project Bread is more than just the “home” of the Walk for Hunger. It’s an
everyday antihunger organization that can benefit from your support all through the year.

AN AT-HOME RETREAT FROM THE SPIRITUAL LIFE COMMISSION
As a parish community, we have journeyed from the Holy Ground of Lent, through
the Easter season, which will bring us to Pentecost next week. Over the past 32 weeks, a group of thirty
parishioners has been journeying with St. Ignatius' Spiritual Exercises Retreat in Everyday Life. They will
complete their journey with their last gathering on Pentecost Sunday.
You are invited to accompany this group on the "last mile" of the retreat as they contemplate our
ongoing life in the Spirit. Where is the Spirit at work in your life? Join us for a week of prayer and
reflection as we seek to follow and trust the lead of the Spirit at work in our everyday lives.
To participate, simply carve out some space for prayer in the coming week. Open each daily
prayer time with the grace for which we pray this week. Read the daily scripture passage and consider
the reflection question for the day. Notice what emerges for you over the movement of the week. Know
that you are not traveling alone, but have many companions on this road seeking life in the Spirit.
THE GRACE I SEEK:
I pray for the following grace: a deepening awareness of the presence, power, and movement of the
Spirit in my life.
Daily Prayer for the Week of May 13th-May 19th:
Monday, May 13th
Isaiah 43: 19-21 (The Spirit that makes all things new)
Reflection Question: What are you noticing that feels "new" in your life?
Tuesday, May 14th
Isaiah 11: 1-2 (The gifts of the Spirit include wonder and awe in God's presence)
Reflection Question: What are you noticing in the natural world these days that speaks to you of
the wonder and awe of God's presence?
Wednesday, May 15th
First Corinthians 12: 4-27 (The Gifts of the Spirit)
Reflection Question: What have you discovered lately about the way in which God's gifts are
given to you and to others?
Thursday, May 16th
Acts 2: 1-24, 37-47 (The Coming of the Spirit)
Reflection Question: Through the coming of the Spirit, we share in the mission of Jesus' earliest
companions. How does confidence in the Spirit's presence and action free you to take courageous
steps in your everyday life?
Friday, May 17th
Ephesians 4: 1-7, 11-13 (The Spirit calls us to co-labor in unity)
Reflection Question: There is work to be done! How does it feel to know that you will be
empowered by the Spirit of God to carry out your personal vocation?
Saturday, May 18th
Romans 8:14-27 (Living in the Spirit)
Reflection Question: The Spirit enlivens and encourages us when we feel hopeless. Can you
recall a time when you have "groaned within yourself ?” How has the Spirit led you to a place of
hope?
Sunday, May 19th
John 14: 16-31 (Jesus' promise to send the Spirit: "with you always")
Reflection Question: How are you currently experiencing the consoling peace of the promise
"with you always"?

Queridos Parroquianos,
servir.
En el amor de Jesús
Padre Bob
