Marketing and Communications Intern Description: Original Oyster House seeks a creative, enthusiastic self-starter to assist in marketing and communications efforts. This internship is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of marketing, development and communications. Requirements: Firm grasp of available tools and platforms in the social media space Completed or working toward a college degree (junior level and up), preferably in a related field (e.g., English, Marketing/Communications, Advertising or Public Relations) Previous internship or related experience in marketing or communications a plus Understanding of the basic principles of public relations and/or marketing Must be computer literate (working knowledge of word processing, PowerPoint, Excel). Knowledge of graphic and communication software a plus Possess excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills Ability to communicate in a professional manner with press and community contacts Ability to work well independently and within a team Commitment to cultural sensitivity and respect for differences Commitment to organization’s mission & values Responsibilities: Working directly with the Marketing Director to produce, plan and expedite marketing communication tasks Working on a spreadsheets allocating with marketing budget, surveys, coupons etc. to review Fulfillment of donation requests including silent auction items, gift certificates, and communications Assist with special projects e.g. Oyster Trailblazer Calendar: responsibilities include o Working with Oyster Trailblazer committee and schools to fund raise with calendar o Organizing processes and managing distribution o Proofing and editing marketing materials. Assist in planning, writing and managing e-communications Public speaking for a presentation, show or event Draft, distribute and pitch news releases, media alerts and other stories Design flyers, graphics, e-mail blasts and other marketing materials Collaborate with staff or vendor on new ideas, directions, and tools for marketing and communications Prepare bi-weekly reports and maintain regular contact with supervisor
