The Regional Forester, through the Deputy Regional Forester of
Operations, designates the Director of Information Resources
Management as the approving, and/or reviewing and recommending
official for alternative workplaces telecommunications plans and designs
under their authority.
The Government Paperwork Elimination Act guides the Region to
facilitate telecommunications in the broadest scope. This includes
promotion of electronic documents like online forms and formats that
have self evident preparation and use procedures, and that comply with
agency guidelines.

6640.4 – RESPONSIBILITY
6640.42a – Regional Foresters, Station Directors, Area Director, and Institute
Director
The Regional Forester, through the Deputy Regional Forester of Operations, designates the
Director of Information Resources Management as the approving, and/or reviewing and
recommending official for alternative workplaces telecommunications plans and designs under
their authority.
The Government Paperwork Elimination Act guides the Region to facilitate telecommunications
in the broadest scope. This includes promotion of electronic documents like online forms and
formats that have self evident preparation and use procedures, and that comply with agency
guidelines.
1. Director, Information Resources Management. This Director is responsible for
determining information resources requirements to support telecommunications of an
alternative workplace. Participants’ full startup telecommunications costs may be $2,000
to $15,000, plus month-to-month expenses. Staff Directors and Forest Supervisors
should correspond (file code 6640) with the Director of IRM to determine IRM related
costs. IRM staff provides related support services for alternative workplaces.
Implementation of equipment and services at an alternative workplace may take 120
days.
