UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH ALABAMA
ACCOUNTING (BSBA) 4
Department Of Accounting Mission
Our mission is to provide value-added accounting education, conduct research that improves accounting practice and
instructional development, and provide service to the profession, university, and Gulf Coast Region constituencies. Our graduates
should have the requisite accounting and information technology skills to become the future ethical leaders of the accounting
profession.
Reporting on the financial affairs of private and public institutions, preparing regulatory reports, and tax return preparation require
sound accounting procedures. Since management decisions are made from accounting information, qualified accountants must
be available, not only as executive accountants for industrial firms but also as public accountants for auditing and for general
services to business firms and governmental agencies. The major in accounting is designed to prepare students for positions
in these areas.
A student is not permitted to repeat any accounting course for which they have previously earned a grade of "C" or better.
