Position Description
This position is located in the Adult Services Unit. Position will evaluate, assess and provide social work,
supportive services and case management services to APS referrals. Position is also responsible for adult
services intake, general assistance; serving as liaison between guardianship wards, the facility and the
director. Position establishes a place of residence for wards and provides for the acquisition of any other
needed services, acts as back-up in adult protective services cases and carries a small transportation and
In-Home Aide caseload. This position performs other duties as assigned. A valid NC driver's license and
access to a passenger vehicle is required. A pre-employment drug screening and criminal background
check is required. Position is located in Tarboro; however, office location may change based on the needs
of the agency.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities






Considerable knowledge of social work principles, techniques, and practices and their application
to individual casework group work and community problems.
Knowledge of the psychosocial, socioeconomic and behavioral problems and their treatment.
Knowledge of governmental and private organizations and community resources. Knowledge of
laws, regulations and policies which govern the program. General knowledge of medical
terminology, disease processes and their treatment.
Skill in establishing rapport with a client and applying techniques of assessing psychosocial,
behavioral, and psychological aspects of client’s problem.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrative superiors,
members of case load and their families, and with civics, medical, social and religious
organizations.
Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely and to plan and execute work.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
A Bachelor’s (BSW) degree from an accredited school of social work; four year degree in a human
services field and one year of directly related experience; and/or a four year college or university degree
and two years of directly related experience.

Preferences: Prefer applicants with strong computer skills and/or experience in Windows environment
including Microsoft Office. Bilingual in English and Spanish helpful.
