Overview:TheBostonCollegeExperienceProgramisasix‐weekprogramforhighschoolstudents
totakeclasses,attendcollegevisits,andpartakeinavarietyofco‐curricularandsocialprograms.
TheProgramCoordinator(4positions)servesasamentorandfacilitatorforallcomponentsof
thisprogram.Thefocusoftheprogramisonpreparingourstudentsforthecollegesearch
processandtheirfirstyearofcollege.
Compensation:ProgramCoordinatorsreceiveon‐campushousingforthedurationoftheprogram
andtraining(fromJune1,2016–August8,2016),amealplan,andarepaida$3000stipend.
EssentialFunctions:Thisisalive‐instudentleadershippositionwhichreportsdirectlytothe
ProgramDirectorandsupportstheoverallmissionoftheBCEprogramthrough:(1)supporting
thegeneraloperationoftheresidencehall,(2)facilitatinganenvironmentthatcontributestothe
academic,social,cultural,andspiritualdevelopmentofstudents,(3)introducingstudentsto
variousacademicandadministrativeresourcesofBostonCollege,(4)facilitatingthesuccessofco‐
curricularactivities,latenightprograms,andweekendtripsinordertobuildgroupdynamics,
fosterinterpersonalrelationships,anddeveloppersonalidentity,(5)directsupervisionofand
responsibilityfordevelopingandmaintainingpositiveon‐goingrelationshipswithastaffeight‐to‐
tenResidentAdvisorsandonehundredstudentsthroughouttheirparticipationintheBCE
program.Thisyear’sprogramwillbeginonSunday,June26,2016andendonSaturday,August6,
2016(stafforientation,training,andprogrampreparationwillbefromJune1,2016–June25,
2016).
Responsibilities:
 Planandfacilitatestafftrainingaspartofaleadershipteamfortenstudentstaffmembers
 Providedirectandfunctionalsupervisionfortenstudentstaffmembersunderthe
guidanceoftheProgramDirector
 Planandfacilitateweeklystaffmeetings
 Conductweeklyone‐on‐onemeetingswitheachstudentstaffmember
 Participateintheweekly24hourdutyschedule,whichwillincludebeingoncallasafirst
responderfortwoweeksduringtheprogram.Thisincludesbeingwithin15minutesof
campusinordertorespondtoincidentsoncampustosupportstaffandstudents.
 Coordinatethedesignandimplementationofkeycomponentsoftheprogramincludingbut
notlimitedto:
o Superviseandprovidesupportfortheprogrammingresponsibilitiesofstudentstaff
members
o Coordinateandsuperviseweeklycollegevisits
o CoordinateandsupervisetheDiscoverBostonseriestotakestudentsintoBoston
andthesurroundingarea
o Attendandfacilitateweeklyseminars(varioustimesduringtheweek)






o Overseethefacilitationofregular(atleastoneaweek)guideddiscussionswith
assignedstudentsinsmallgroups–topicsmayinclude;thecollegesearchprocess,
homesickness,potentialacademicandpersonalhardshipsintheprogramandin
college,beingyourauthenticself,aspectsofsocialidentity,andmore
Mustbepresentintheresidencehallatleastfournightsperweek‐itisanexpectationthat
theBostonCollegeExperienceisyourprimaryresponsibility
Developandmaintainmeaningfulandappropriaterelationshipswithresidentsand
studentstaffmembersthroughfrequentintentionalconversationsandinformal
interactions

Staffmembersareexpectedtomaintainapresenceoncampusandintheresidencehall

RequiredSkills,Knowledge&Abilities:
Thesuccessfulcandidatewillhavedemonstratedabilityanddesiretoworkwithadiversestudent
populationandinateamenvironment.Candidatesmustbeabletoconnectwithanddevelopauthentic
mentoringrelationshipswithhighschoolagestudents(15‐18years).Thispositionwillrequireworking
wellonateam,effectiveplanning,organizing,andadministrativedetails.Successfulapplicantswillpossess
significantexperienceworkingwithstudentsinaleadershipcapacity.Preferencewillbegiventocurrent
BostonCollegestudentsingoodacademicanddisciplinarystandingwiththeUniversityandtheiracademic
department.Graduatestudentswithexperienceinresidentiallifeandstudentaffairsarepreferred.
