Financial Aid Services To support students in achieving their educational goals by assisting them in obtaining financial assistance through federal, state, institutional and private grant, scholarship, loan, employment and payment plan programs. To support the institution by maintaining compliance with all federal and state regulatory policies and procedures governing the student financial aid programs. Core Activities and Performance Core Activity Key PI Indicators Communication - Inform students and the campus community regarding the various forms of financial assistance available. - Promote the importance of applying for financial aid by the appropriate deadlines in insure the timely processes of student awards. Monitor the number of financial aid filers from year to year at specific points in time. Compliance - Continue to maintain the proper federal and state student aid compliance standards. - Train all staff members regarding all regulatory updates. - Annual A133 audit report. Annual training activities for staff members. Customer Service - Continue to provide customer service to a high number of students via in-person, telephone and e-mail. - CUNYfirst training has been provided to all Financial Aid staff so they are better equiped to resolve student inquiries, with limited referrals. - Reduce the lines and wait time in the customer service area. - Review the phone call logs and office e-mail account. Technology - Continue to leverage the new CUNYfirst student information system to provide information and on-line services to students regarding their financial aid application and status of their awards. - Expand the web-based processing services used by students. Measure the number of students utilizing the CUNYfirst "self service" and qcc e-mail accounts. The Financial Aid module was scheduled to go-live in May, 2012 for the 12-13 academic year. We will continue to work toward rectifying problems, as they occur, but there are many issues that are out of the control of the campus staff. Assessment Plan Core Activity KPI Target Outcome Plan Technology - Work toward the improvement of the new Financial Aid module of the CUNYfirst system. With the implementation of the new Financial Aid module of CUNYfirst for the 2012-13 academic year as the Vanguard college, we will be evaluating the failures of the new system to work toward future improvements. Continue to work with the CUNYfirst central office staff to recommend enhancements to the system.
