ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH, A.S. (EH1)
A. Demonstrate mastery of mathematics and science required for transfer to the junior year in a baccalaureate
program in Environmental Health or a related program.
B. Meet requirements for successful transfer into the junior year of a baccalaureate program in Environmental
Health or in related programs
C. Disciplinary learning:
1. Identify core components of the field of Environmental Health.
2. Identify current issues in the field of Environmental Health.
3. Determine if Environmental Health is the desired field for continued study.
HEALTH SCIENCES, A.S. (HS1)
A. Demonstrate a knowledge of basic biological systems including the structure and function of the human
body.
B. Demonstrate an understanding of the principles of chemistry and how they are fundamental to all living
systems.
C. Demonstrate computer literacy skills for data entry, retrieval, manipulation, and analysis.
D. Specify how the health care system in the United States is structured, from emergency to urgent, to chronic
care services.
E. Predict trends in health care needs and health professional career opportunities.
MASSAGE THERAPY, A.A.S. (TM2)
A. Demonstrate a strong foundation in the biological sciences, together with a broad based general education in
the liberal arts
B. Demonstrate knowledge of and proficiency in the art and science of massage therapy, within a holistic health
framework
C. Comprehend theoretical knowledge of and apply Eastern and Western massage therapy techniques
D. Work with clients in a variety of settings, under the direct supervision of a licensed faculty member
E. Demonstrate understanding of professional issues, including legal and ethical concern, business practices
and the importance of continuing education throughout the career
F. Prepare for application for licensure in New York State.
MEDICAL OFFICE ASSISTANT, A.A.S. (MA2)
A. Students will demonstrate an understanding of basic biological principles including medical terminology and
current ethical and legal issues.
B. Students will demonstrate administrative knowledge including medical records management, collections and
insurance processing.
C. Students will demonstrate appropriate knowledge and techniques of various clinical testing procedures
including but not limited to EKG, urine analysis, phlebotomy, etc
D. Students will integrate the knowledge and skills needed in a medical office environment
NURSING, A.A.S. (NP/NS2)
A. Demonstrate a strong background in liberal arts and sciences, with emphasis on the humanities, the
biological sciences and social sciences
B. Provide care in structured health care settings: Use critical thinking to develop, implement, and evaluate
individual plans of care to meet the self-care needs/deficits of patients throughout the life cycle
C. Manage care in structured care settings:
1. Coordinate care for patients with self-care needs/deficits
2. Collaborate with other health care providers
3. Appropriately delegate aspects of nursing care
D. Become a member within the discipline of nursing
1. Demonstrate commitment to professional development and continuous learning
2. Practice within the ethical and legal framework of nursing and be accountable for
nursing practice
CERTIFICATE PROGRAM IN MEDICAL OFFICE ASSISTANT (MO3)
A. Students will demonstrate basic knowledge of various clinical testing procedures such as EKG and urine
analysis.
B. Students will demonstrate an understanding of public health policies and how they relate to a medical office
assistant
C. Students will have the basic computer skills to manage patient records, phone calls and appointments with
insurance companies and patients.
