Alexander County Employment Opportunity _____________________________________________________________________________________ Department: Alexander County Department of Social Services Position: Community Social Services Technician Salary Grade: 58 Posting Date: 1/13/2014 - 1/24/2014 Range: $20,724.25 - $29,282.82 Description of Work: This position is organizationally located within the Child Welfare Unit, under the direct supervision of a CPS Social Work Supervisor III. The position supports the Social Work Team which responds to reports of abuse, neglect, and dependency of children assessing risk of harm and providing services (either voluntary or mandated) to reduce risk and promote safety, including invoking the court system when necessary. The duties of this position include scheduling and transporting clients to appointments for meeting their medical, psychological, educational, and various other needs. Also, transporting children and families to and from visits. Supervising visits with children and their families, as advised/ordered by the courts or requested by a social worker, also documenting observations from these visits. Preparing and testifying in court. Scheduling, supporting, and teaching MAPP and Shared Parenting activities. Recruiting and supporting the training of potential foster and adoptive parents. Assisting clients with household management, utilizing community resources, employment, looking for housing or remedying evictions, money management, food preparation and safety issues, hygiene issues, home cleanliness, organizational skills, and addressing unsafe living conditions and basic life skills. Organizing/scheduling permanency planning meetings, organizing/scheduling child protection team and child fatality meetings (including taking minutes), organizing and calculating foster parents' monthly payments and updating foster parents information book. Helping social workers schedule and coordinate times and dates for CFTs (child and family team meetings), as well as facilitating these meetings. Education and Experience: High School Diploma and a demonstrated possession of knowledges, skills, and abilities gained through two years of experience in performing similar instructional and community placement tasks; or graduation from a two-year associate degree program designed to prepare support personnel for human services agencies which includes a six month practice/internship in a similar setting (one year of the above experience may be substituted for the practice).
