Vance County is an Equal Opportunity Employer Department: Social Services Position Title: Income Maintenance Caseworker II (F&C Medicaid) (NEW) Salary Range: $27,168 – $28,524 Application Close Date: October 21, 2011 Minimum Training and Experience Requirements: One year of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. BILINGUAL PREFERRED. The Income Maintenance Caseworker I education/experience requirements are: Graduation from an accredited associate degree program in Human Services Technology, Social Services Associate, Paralegal Technology, Business Administration, Secretarial Science, or a closely related curriculum; or graduation from high school and two years of paraprofessional, clerical, or other public contact experience which included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, gathering and compiling of data, analysis of data and/or performance of mathematical or legal tasks with at least one year of such experience being in an income maintenance program; or graduation from high school and three years of paraprofessional, clerical or other public contact experience which included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, the gathering and compiling of data, the analysis of data and/or the performance of mathematical or legal tasks; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Considerable knowledge of the program/areas of assignment General knowledge of all agency and community programs and services which could affect the client/applicant; good mathematical reasoning and computational skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret rules, regulations and procedures; communicate with clients/applicants, the public at large, and pubic officials to obtain data, and to explain and interpret rules, policies, and procedures; understand and evaluate the work of lower level employees; perform caseworker functions within structured time frames. 2 Job Description/Duties: The primary purpose of this position is to determine eligibility for the multiple Family & Children’s Medicaid programs; tasks include interviewing clients, gathering and verifying information to determine eligibility, utilizing manuals for correct policy interpretation, and correctly inputting the information into a computer system to authorize services; the Economic Services Caseworker II must develop knowledge of the intake process and be able to perform intake duties when required; the worker must utilize proper phone etiquette and customer service skills to gather the required information from clients, employers, medical facilities, and other community resources; develop knowledge of all agency and community programs/services which could affect the client and collaborate with other agencies when required; good mathematical reasoning and computational skills are essential; possess the ability to read, analyze and interpret a variety of regulations, policies, and procedures of varying complexity; caseworkers are required to utilize various office equipment and computer technology to enter , retrieve, verify, update, research, and authorize case actions. Caseload management requires excellent organizational and time management skills, the ability to work both independently and as a team, to prioritize work to meet multiple deadlines.
