Director of Finance (Candy)
§ Candy has been working on a research proposal for why carry forwards are an important thing to
consider.
• GSA funding has been very limited this year; less students have been able to get conference
grants. When there is a significant amount of money sitting in org bank accounts, it is not a
productive use of the student activity fee.
• Comments/questions/concerns? Email Candy (yulinx@bc.edu) by next Wednesday April 6th
• Individual grants vs. group grants both exist.
• Departments that have not been using their roll over funds to fund students (i.e. conference
grants) is where the problem lies.
• Your money will not be taken from you. The issue is that bigger orgs that keep accumulating
more and more money while smaller orgs are at a clear disadvantage.
• Craig’s notion to Candy– Release a proposed budget showing how things would look in
September if the carry forward plan would be put into effect.
