Leah Keshet: Flocks and the single bird
I will present examples of the dynamics of swarms, bird
flocks and other collective social groups. How do flocks
stay together? How do they keep from getting too
crowded? What are individuals doing inside that flock?
I’ll describe some recent work that uses mathematics to
answer these questions for a local flock of ducks.
