Ensure Extended Learning Program Meets Title I Requirements
Districts that utilize Title I Part A funds must ensure that these funds are utilized to provide and support academically rigorous programs to only students who are eligible to receive Title I services. Proper documentation for the expenditure of the funds must be maintained.
To be considered for Title I Part A funding an extended learning program must meet the following criteria:
Serve only students eligible for Title I services
Utilize highly qualified teachers to deliver instruction
Offer challenging academic content
– provide intentional learning
Utilize strategies and programs that are scientifically research based
Incorporate methods to track student progress – progress monitoring
Documentation in the following areas must be maintained to establish the proper use of funds:
Academic goals and objectives for the program – This should connect with the school strategic plan and the tiered instructional model.
Research and strategies the school will use to help the students reach the academic goals
Curriculum and materials to be utilized
Methods of monitoring individual student progress
Assessment data
Qualifications of the instructional staff
Data about the students’ residence to verify that the students live in an eligible attendance area
Participating students’ school enrollment information
Accurate attendance records for each extended learning session
