Midshipmen were admitted from every state in the Nation, as well as Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The Class of 2019 also includes 12 international students from: Albania (1),
Cambodia (1), Georgia (1), Korea (1), Malaysia (1), Montenegro (1),
Philippines (2), Taiwan (1), Thailand (1) and Turkey (2).

Ten members of the entering class have both parents who are alumni of the Naval Academy.

The Class of 2019 includes 380 (32%) from college and post-high school preparatory programs which include:

F 59 from the U.S. Naval Academy Foundation Program
civilian preparatory programs
F 102 additional students have completed at least one
semester of study at a college or university and one at a
post-secondary prep school.

To develop midshipmen morally, mentally, and physically and to imbue them with the highest ideals of duty, honor and loyalty in order to graduate leaders who are dedicated to a career of naval service and have potential for future development in mind and character to assume the highest responsibilities of command, citizenship, and government.
The admissions process ensures that entering midshipmen have the capability to meet the academic and military challenges of the Naval Academy. More than 85 percent of those entering the Academy successfully complete the four year program.
