Spring 2015 - Welcome Back!
Exciting news!! Joe Candarelli, recent Marist graduate and former
student-athlete, has joined our staff as the Academic Advisement
Fellow. Joe grew up in the Hudson Valley just south of Marist in
Cortlandt Manor, NY. He was a football player for Marist College as
well as a coaching assistant for two seasons and still remains active
with the program. In his down time, Joe enjoys working out and
spending time with his family. What Joe enjoys most about Marist
College is continuing to be a part of the Marist family and he is looking
forward to working with student athletes from various sports.

Student-Athlete of the Month
Joshua Dodway
MAJOR: Environmental Science & Policy
POSITION: Diver
YEAR: Junior
HOMETOWN: Niskayuna, NY
Balancing 20+ hours of practice, training,
competition and travel in addition to
academics is not an easy task, but Josh
somehow manages to fit in community
service, as well. Josh is a five-time MAAC Diver of the Week
and a two-time ECAC Diver of the Week. He qualified for the
NCAA Zone Qualifier Diving Championships on the 1-meter
board after posting a first-place score of 304.65 points in
Marist's second meet of the season at Fordham. He owns a pair
of top five finishes in the 3-meter dive at the MAAC
Championships and placed second in the event at the 2014
NCAA Zone Qualifier Diving Championships. In his free time,
Josh can still be found in the pool. He is a swim instructor for
the Red Fox Aquatic Club, teaching children ages 4 to 15 water
safety and swimming skills. He even piloted a diving instruction
program. Diving Coach Melanie Bolstad says “Joshua Dodway
is very committed to both his academic and athletic success. He
always has time to help a fellow athlete with any athletic or
academic issues. He is also a great swimming and diving
teacher in our community based lessons program. He works
well with children and his peers.” Josh was selected to the
MAAC All-Academic Team last season. An Environmental
Science & Policy major, he is active in global issues. Josh
participated in the Peoples Climate March in NYC to raise
awareness of the United Nations Climate Change Conference. In
or out of the pool, Joshua Dodway is a true student-athlete.

has always balanced academics and athletics. She is a true scholar
athlete. She has great leadership skills and is a strong captain
because of her communications skills with both coaches and
athletes.” Kimberly participated in the International Study Abroad
Program by spending the Semester at Sea in the summer of 2013 visiting 10 countries and 13 cities in the Mediterranean. She is a
Global Ambassador for the program at various events on campus.
