Five (5) years experience with the Security Department of St. Lucie County School Board preferred. Satisfactory evaluations and recommendation of Supervisor. On-going training required by the Safety and Security Coordinator. Substitute certificate and Commercial Driver's License. Ability to communicate with students and staff with authority. Ability to perform the functions of the position. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. To fingerprint and obtain background checks on new employees to the system. 2. To patrol school areas and be aware of suspicious persons or vehicles in area. 3. To assist in controlling campus disruptions. 4. To assist in transporting such students from school. 5. To assist in transportation when there are disruptions on school bus or a bus accident. 6. To monitor bus stops for students and employee safety. 7. To perform surveillance of school property when asked by a supervisor or coordinator of safety and security department. 8. To assist in internal investigations of employees of school system as directed by a supervisor or coordinator. 9. To provide assistance to parents, teachers, students and administrative personnel. To prepare reports and appear to testify in formal and informal hearings in court, State Attorney depositions, and School Board hearings. 12. To cooperate and work with school officials and school resource officers. 13. To deliver legal or school documents. 14. To adhere to the Florida Code of Professional Conduct in all school matters. 15. To assist in emergency procedures such as evacuation or disaster shelters. 16. To perform assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner. 17. To perform assigned tasks to a high standard of quality. 18. To perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
