Associate of Arts degree or high school diploma with 5 years of progressive work experience in personnel work. Knowledge of Florida State Board Rules as related to the FRS. Knowledge of federal guidelines regarding the Family & Medical Leave Act (FMLA). Evidence of organizational ability. Successful experience in developing and implementing automated tracking systems. Ability to prepare and present easily understood reports and directives. Demonstrates ability to work with diverse groups and effectively communicate both orally and in writing. Knowledge of current computing technologies and software applications appropriate to the position’s job responsibilities. Ability to perform the job functions. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. Researches data and prepares reports as required. Performs FMLA assignments with minimal direction. Determines FMLA eligibility by evaluating leave requests and medical documents according to Forida statutes; interprets state and federal statutes and rules. Operates a FMLA database to enter, retrieve, review, or modify data. Prepares and processes necessary forms for FMLA. Serves as the liaison between the district and work sites regarding FMLA, the district leave process, and retirement. Serves as an informational resource for employees and staff regarding FMLA, the district leave process, and retirement. Page Two Leave and Retirement Specialist 8. 9. Maintains accuracy of personnel files in compliance with district policies. Assists in the development and implementation of district policies and procedures and compliance with federal and state regulations. 10. Conducts district-wide retirement workshops and other related workshops related to personnel management. 11. Determines eligibility for the donation of sick days for district employees in compliance with Florida Statute and School Board Policy 12. Determines leave eligibility for district approved leaves. 13. Coordinates with other district departments regarding the approval of district leaves. 14.
