The Instructional Support Specialist focuses the activities on improving teaching, learning and engagement while utilizing best practices for adult learning. QUALIFICATIONS 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Bachelor's Degree or higher. Florida teaching certificate – Certification in the content areas preferred. Pattern of implementing the latest research of teaching/learning in the classroom. To design and deliver professional development that is aligned to the state, district and schools’ goals. To ensure that the design and delivery of professional development utilizes the best practices for adult learners. To facilitate professional learning through job-embedded work that utilizes collaboration, inquiry, reflection, technology and best practices research. To provide follow-up to the initial professional development session which supports the proper implementation of skills and strategies as they are tried. To model effective instructional strategies throughout professional development sessions. To seek, evaluate and select professional development consultants and trainings focused on the state, district and schools’ goals. To build the capacity of leaders to coach teachers as they design challenging, interesting, and satisfying work for students that are aligned to the state and district standards. To examine the work students have produced as a means for analyzing and improving the quality of the work that was designed. To gather and use disaggregated student data to determine adult learning priorities, monitor progress and help sustain continuous improvement. To propose, submit and approve professional development activities using the state and national guidelines for professional development. To educate professional development providers about the staff development standards so that the experiences they provide ensures participants the necessary knowledge and skills to implement what is learned. To design and provide electronic forms of learning as an alternative that responds to differences in learning styles and availability of participants. To promote action research activities that provide evidence that specific instructional strategies impact learning and achievement. To perform assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner. To perform assigned tasks with a high standard of quality. To perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Professional Development which maximizes performance.
