Student/Family/School Compact Interim Superintendent
Genelle Zoratti Yost Thank you for choosing to enroll your child at Floresta Elementary School. This compact is a collective commitment by families, students
and teachers to provide the best possible learning experience for your child so he/she will be successful.
Family Agreement:
I want my child to achieve. Therefore, I will encourage him/her by doing the following:













Monitor my child’s progress and let the teacher know right away if I notice any problems.
Read to or with my child for at least 15 minutes each evening.
Limit TV to one hour a day and have an established time for homework and bedtime.
Help my child to see the importance and relevance of reading, writing, and math.
See that my child is punctual and attends school daily.
Review homework and sign the Student Planner each night. (K-5)
Ensure that my child is dressed according to the Dressing for Success policy and check backpack for
appropriate content each day.
Encourage my child’s efforts and have him/her talk about what he/she is learning each day.
Review, sign, and return Tuesday folders, progress reports, and report cards.
Read the new Student/Parent Handbook (front pages of Student Planner) and discuss the contents with my child.
Support the school in its efforts to maintain proper discipline through our Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) Program.
Be an active partner by attending monthly learning events at the school, conferencing with the teachers, and helping out in any way I
can. (Minimum of two per year)

Ask for help from my teacher and family if I am having trouble doing my work.
Read on my own and with my family every night for at least 15 minutes.
Write down my assignments in my planner, do my homework, and turn it in when it is due.
Come to school with a positive attitude and be willing and ready to learn.
Dress each day following the Dressing for Success policy and bring only necessary items for learning to school.
“Stop and Think” before I make a decision.
Learn and follow S.W.I.M. expectations.
Talk to my family about what I am learning in school.

It is important that my students achieve. Therefore, I shall do the following:

Build a relationship with every family in my class.
Keep families informed of their students’ progress and needs in each subject.
Make sure every student gets the help he/she needs as soon as it is needed.
Send home ways and/or materials to help with reading, writing, and math.
Explain my approach to teaching, expectations, and grading.
Continue to learn new strategies so I can reach all students.
Invite families to confer about their students’ work.
Make sure students understand assignments and what they will learn from them.
Ensure that quality instruction is provided in a safe and caring environment.
Enforce school and classroom rules fairly and consistently.
