600L. When books are matched to a student’s Lexile reader measure, the student
will have a 75% comprehension rate.
When books are read within a student’s
Lexile range (100L below to 50L above),
comprehension ranges from 65% - 80%.
A reader’s comprehension “sweet spot”
ranges from 65% - 80%. Reading in this
range is challenging enough that you
are encountering new vocabulary and
sentence structures, but easy enough
that you will be able to understand the
content of the text as a comfortable
reading speed.
