1 Training & Development – TSO Online Archive 9/16/2003 - Notes T&D Documents Introduction: Systems, Apps, Ops, and T&D completed an online archive for TSO mainframe output. In plain English: we who rely on the mainframe will be able to forward data to a webpage requiring a slightly quirky logon. It'll save loads of paper, allow us to share data with each other in the office, and even permit a download their stuff to the PC to burn to a CD. Documentation online: http://www.marist.edu/~mvsarch/archfaq.html 1. How to access 2. What to look for 3. How do I open it Answers 1. How to access The userid is your TSO "HM" account. This will determine which office you work for and therefore which office directory you can see. For example an account "HMCCXXX" indicates the user works for the Computer Center. The password is your personal password from your "J" account. Your "J" account is the same account you use to check your vacation balance, access the Library online databases, get to your online Elearning courses, or access the Internet while using a student lab machine. This password will indicate to the system the individual accessing the archive. [Back to the top] 2. What to look for Once you are in the archive you may sort by title, date, or sender. If you took the opportunity to indicate which folder you wanted your report archived to, simply click on the label for that subdirectory (folder) and search the reports you've stored there by either date, title, or sender. Please note a running total for your reports is seen in the lower right corner within a subdirectory. This is simply a size, in kilobytes or megabytes, for general reference when determining how many files may fit on a single 80-minute CD. There is no minimum established for reports downloaded to CD. There are some limitations as to how many reports can be stuffed onto one CD. For more detailed information on burning CDs at the desktop please see : Recording Data to a CD [Back to the top] 1 2 Training & Development – TSO Online Archive 9/16/2003 - Notes T&D Documents How do I open it You must have the Marist desktop standard: Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0 or higher to open the PDF. Once you select a report to view it, you will be prompted for a read-only password. Each office has their own TSO identifier as this password. The intent for this document security is to prevent disclosure of confidential material should a report be intercepted while enroute to the Auditors or another reporting authority via the Internet. Should you expect to see a file online, but have trouble locating it, first try looking in folders with a similar name to the one you'd anticipated finding the file within. If you thought you'd sent it to a folder named "Weekly" look for a close but mispelled match, such as "weakly". Then look at your Office Main Page in case the file was not uploaded to a subdirectory/folder but simply to the Main Page. Failing that, call HelpDesk at X4357 or Training X3564 for assistance.
